Turnaround for Children Inc., Newark schools complicit in secrecy

If the very-secret Turnaround for Children Inc. is ever to break out of its mode of refusing to provide information about its programs, can it look to Newark Public Schools as a model of transparency?

Not on your life.

Newark and Turnaround should heed the lesson of Washington, D.C., which can write the book on how to be transparent.

Prime example:

DCPS Home

In this report, D.C. schools itemize each school’s involvement with nonprofit foundations, detailing what each is providing in programming and money to each D.C. school:

That is what Newark and Turnaround can and should be doing – disclosing and publicizing exactly who is doing what and where, and who is funding it, and by how much.

Earth to Newark and Turnaround:

Do you get the point?
